camping at marion bay
If you’ve ever loved camping – but feel like it just doesn’t fit your life anymore – you’re not alone. I’ve been there too. For me, Marion Bay camping has always been tied to family memories, open skies and that sweet sense of freedom.
Growing up, some of my favourite memories were camping with my Dad and sister at the Pondalowie campgrounds in Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park. Dad would surf while we played Barbies in the sand. We thought he was the coolest person alive – we used to call it “hero worshipping”, when we watched him surf.
We took trips to the Flinders Ranges in a mini-bus Dad converted with beds, but my sister and I would always choose the tent. Something about the rustle of wind, the bush air and the independence it offered felt like magic.
but things change
When I moved to Sydney, I still camped once a year with friends. It kept the spark alive. But I’ll be honest: unpacking in the dark, packing up a wet tent, and storing it all for the rest of the year? It wore thin.
Like many of us, my season shifted.
Camping didn’t feel relaxing anymore. And that’s when the idea for Bayside Glamping began.
It started as a quiet thought: what if we could keep the magic of camping, but make it feel more like a real holiday?

marion bay camping, without the hard parts

I didn’t invent glamping, but it was just starting to pop up. And I kept wondering – why not here? Why not create something nature-connected in Marion Bay, but with comfort baked in from the start?
Something that lets you:
- Wake up to birdsong.
- Breathe in eucalyptus, and the salty air.
- Gaze at the Southern skies.
But skip the toilet block trips, the shared camping grounds, the puzzle of packing the car boot, or the single-use camping gear taking up space in the shed.
So we built something different.
